As a realization of the government's directive through Permendikbud Number 12 of 2024, which mandates English as a compulsory subject for early school-aged children in the Merdeka Curriculum, LearningRoom is ready to collaborate with the Banjarmasin City Department of Education (Disdik) to provide mandatory LMS-based teaching materials to elementary school children in the region in 2025.
This collaboration is moving closer to reality with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between LearningRoom and representatives of the Banjarmasin City Department of Education on Monday, May 20, 2024, concerning the use of the Teacher Portal feature as LearningRoom's LMS, which will be used as supplementary teaching materials for elementary school teachers starting next year.
The MoU signing took place at the Banjarmasin City Department of Education Office, attended by the Head of the Department of Education, Nuryadi S.Pd., M.A., and LearningRoom representatives, Avinda Nurhasanah Akil (Business Manager) and Mokh. Zidny Fadlan (Head of Government Relations).
"We thank the LearningRoom team for coming here and taking the time to present their learning products in person. We find several features very interesting and can be used to assist teachers in delivering lessons with various materials, making the classroom atmosphere more interactive," said Nuryadi in his statement after the MoU signing.
Through this collaboration, LearningRoom will carry out a series of preparations before implementing the Guru Portal feature as an integrated learning LMS, including training sessions for teachers in schools that will start using it next year.
Teacher Portal, as part of the learning methods in LearningRoom, is a digital platform that can be accessed by teachers to prepare lesson materials and create quiz exercises for students with various available English modules to be used during classroom learning and to improve students' foreign language literacy skills.
"This is a good initial step that LearningRoom has been trusted by the Banjarmasin City Department of Education to soon implement Guru Portal for the elementary level. We hope LearningRoom can provide maximum benefits to the education sector in Indonesia in improving English literacy, especially for elementary-aged children from various regions, not just in Banjarmasin," said Avinda Akil.
On another occasion, Avinda Akil also added that LearningRoom is currently conducting training sessions for teachers in Kupang City online in preparation for the implementation of LearningRoom in July 2024, coinciding with the new school year.
